Privacy policy
Your resume is personal information. We treat it that way.
This policy explains what we collect, why, where it goes and how to get it corrected or deleted, consistent with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Information you give us directly: your name and contact details, your resume and career documents, job advertisements you supply, and anything you tell us in reviews, forms, calls and emails. Career documents routinely contain employment history and sometimes sensitive information such as memberships, health-adjacent details or defence service; we collect it only because you supply it for the writing work.
Information collected automatically: basic technical data through privacy-respecting analytics. We aim to run cookieless analytics; if that changes, the cookies page and consent banner will say so before anything is set.
Why we collect it
To deliver the services you ask for, to reply to enquiries, to improve our templates and checklists in aggregate, and, only with your separate consent, to send the newsletter. We do not sell personal information, we do not share client documents as samples, and client documents are never used to train any AI system.
Who sees it
The writer working on your documents, and the small set of service providers needed to operate: hosting, file storage, email delivery and payment processing. Payment card details go directly to our payment processor and never touch our systems. Where a provider stores data outside Australia we take reasonable steps to ensure equivalent protection, and we prefer Australian-region storage wherever offered.
How long we keep it
Client documents are retained for 90 days after delivery to cover revisions and the guarantee, then deleted from active systems. Order records are kept as required for tax and consumer law. You can request earlier deletion of documents at any time and we will confirm when it is done.
Your rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask for corrections, and complain if you think we have mishandled something. Contact hello@shooin.example with the subject Privacy and we respond within 30 days. If our answer does not resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Security
Documents are transmitted over encrypted connections and stored encrypted at rest, access is limited to the people doing the work, and accounts protecting client data use multi-factor authentication.
